With AIs level of sophistication in replicating voices, every family should have a "code phrase" in 2023 and beyond. This phrase should be unique and hard to guess. If any family member calls you in distress and starts asking for money or something unusual, you should ask for the code phrase.

If AI-assisted development significantly decreases time-to-market —which I believe it does— I suspect there will be a "golden age" of app/services in late 2023 and early 2024. A single engineer with a good idea can knock out a moderately complex app when leveraging AI. In a few years, I suspect anyone with a good idea will be able to deploy an app.

Trust is an efficiency multiplier. Without it, we are forced to do everything ourselves. Any process or product that reduces trust between individuals or groups has a far greater impact than can be immediately measured.

Asking companies to pause the development of AI is ignoring Gresham's law. It would only apply to good actors and bad actors would simply gain the advantage.

As a programmer, regardless of your thoughts on AI, if you don't embrace it as a tool in your toolbox, you will be passed by AI-assisted programmers. It is essentially a new level of abstraction. Not using it will be the equivalent of writing an API in binary while others use an off the shelf framework.
